Vinicius Jr. Expresses Apologetic Sentiments following Benjamin Mendy's 'Not Guilty' Verdict in Rape Trial

Real Madrid's Vinicius Jr. supports Benjamin Mendy after not guilty verdict in rape trial, calls for damage repair.

Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr. has shown his support for Benjamin Mendy, the former Manchester City player who was recently found 'not guilty' in a rape trial. Mendy had been accused of attacking two women at his luxurious estate during the pandemic, but he has consistently denied these charges.

After a tense three-hour deliberation, the jury unanimously cleared the 28-year-old footballer of both counts. This comes after Mendy was previously cleared of six separate counts of rape earlier in the year, strengthening his quest for complete vindication.

The courtroom was filled with emotion as the verdict was announced, and Mendy was overwhelmed with tears of relief. Footballers from all over the world, including Vinicius Jr., have expressed their support for him.

Taking to Twitter, the Real Madrid winger tweeted a heartfelt message to Mendy, saying, "I'm sorry for everything you've been through, Benjamin Mendy. You lost two years of your career, but that's the least of this whole situation... What about the psychological damage? Surely your life will never be the same. The culture of destroying reputations has made yet another victim."

Vinicius Jr. ended his tweet with a poignant question, asking, "What will be done to repair the damage?"

Following Benjamin Mendy's acquittal on charges of sexual misconduct and rape, several footballers have come forward to share their thoughts on the verdict. Atletico Madrid forward Memphis Depay was one of the first to react, taking to social media to discuss the impact on Mendy's reputation.

Depay expressed his thoughts on Twitter, questioning, "Benjamin Mendy. All cases dismissed. So what are we doing now? Who is going to help this brother heal? Who's going to be responsible for the damage to his name?"

Paul Pogba, who has played alongside Mendy for the French national team, also shared his thoughts on the situation. Pogba posted a screenshot of a FaceTime call with Mendy on his social media, calling for action to restore Mendy's name.

His post read, "Al Hamdulilah. So happy for you bro...all the people that were talking bad about you now I wanna see them cleaning your name. Can't wait to see you on the pitch again."

Since the allegations emerged, Mendy's football career has been put on hold, and he has not played professionally for two years. Given the gravity of the challenges he has faced, his road to recovery may be a difficult one.
