Corbin Carroll makes a quick recovery, rejoining Arizona lineup following shoulder soreness

Corbin Carroll returns to the Diamondbacks' lineup after shoulder scare.

In exciting news for the Arizona Diamondbacks, All-Star rookie Corbin Carroll made a triumphant return to the lineup on Friday after a recent scare with his shoulder. Thankfully, an MRI taken early Friday revealed no structural damage, providing relief for Carroll and Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo. This MRI result aligned with previous assessments of Carroll's right shoulder, which had undergone surgical repair for a torn labrum in May 2021.

Thursday night's game against the New York Mets saw Carroll exit the field due to shoulder pain, marking the second time in a week that he had to leave a game for this reason. However, the news on Friday brought immense relief. Lovullo shared the incredible update, stating, "It's exactly the same as every other MRI we've taken in the last couple years. It was a rough morning waiting, but it was great news."

To further confirm his recovery, Carroll took some swings in the batting cage on Friday and reported feeling fine. He expressed having full range of motion and was determined to return to the field, despite Lovullo offering him a day off. The trainers compared Carroll's shoulder sensation to a stinger, a common injury experienced by football players in the neck or upper back after a collision.

Carroll's shoulder troubles began on June 29 during a game against the Tampa Bay Rays when he injured it during an at-bat in the third inning. He subsequently missed two games before making a pinch-hitting appearance on Sunday. Although he returned to play on Tuesday against the Mets, he once again had to leave the game on Thursday after experiencing shoulder pain following a swing in the seventh inning.

Fortunately, Carroll's return to the lineup on Friday was a positive sign for the Diamondbacks. Batting second and playing center field, he showcased his readiness to contribute to the team once again. Additionally, it appears that Carroll will be able to participate in the All-Star Game on Tuesday night in Seattle, his hometown. This news brings further excitement and anticipation for Carroll and his fans.

Overall, Carroll's swift recovery and return to the field is a testament to his resilience and determination. The Diamondbacks can now breathe a sigh of relief, knowing that their All-Star rookie is back in action.
